NYACK, N.Y. -- Hip-hop Shakespeare with rapper The Sonnet Man, Devon Glover will be a featured at the Winter Festival of one-act plays presented by the Children's Shakespeare Theatre at the Nyack Center on Saturday, Jan. 9.

The Sonnet Man will perform at 4 p.m.

He will rap Shakespeare-themed songs to kick off the afternoon sessions of the festival, an all-day event that features works by Moliere, Shakespeare and Thomas Middleton.

Four directors and 38 young actors will tell stories of love, disguise and trickery in a performance of four plays, along with other concurrent events and vendors throughout the day.

Devon Glover, of Brooklyn, is a rapper, artist, writer and teacher.

He sets Shakespeare’s sonnets to hip-hop as a modern-day Sonnet Man, singing sonnets as originally written and then again with his own unique interpretation on Shakespeare's language in today’s spoken word.

The 4 p.m. performance is for audiences of all ages.

Tickets are $20 by email or by calling 347-331-3813.

The Winter Festival will run 11 a.m.-8 p.m. at the Nyack Center on Depew Avenue.
