ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- After winning "America's Got Talent" on Wednesday night, hometown hero Grace VanderWaal of Suffern is being given "the key to Rockland County."

County Executive Ed Day will present the key, which is reserved for a resident "who shows outstanding achievement that reflects well on Rockland."

VanderWaal will be the first resident to receive the honor at a parade that is being planned in Suffern, where VanderWaal is from.

The 12-year-old singer, songwriter, and ukulele player broke into tears last night upon learning she won the talent competition and $1 million . In addition VanderWaal will be performing at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas for three nights, Oct. 27 through Oct. 29.

Three months ago VanderWaal captured the nation's attention with a performance of her original song "I Don't Know My Name" and was dubbed "the next Taylor Swift by judge Simon Cowell." Now, she is a household name.
