For several years, members of the Ramapo Police Department has participated in the Police Unity Tour fundraiser for the National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund.

In May of each year, officers from throughout the nation ride bikes to Washington D.C. to raise money for the fund.

In recognition for their efforts, a group of 52 Police Unity Tour members from throughout the country were invited to visit Israel. Detective Robert Fitzgerald, a member of the Ramapo Police Department Police Unity Tour Team, was selected to attend and is currently on the tour.

The visiting law enforcement officials are touring the country and learning policing techniques from their Israeli counterparts. They will also participate in a special ceremony commemorating the 9/11 terror attacks alongside representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv.

Yesterday the group took a 25-mile bike ride to Tel Aviv.
