“TeenWorks is more than just a summer job,” Day told the group during graduation at Rockland Community College. “It’s a way to help your community become a better place.”
The TeenWorks program, run by the Rockland County Youth Bureau, is a 7-week pre-employment program that offers training and work experience to teens and young adults between the ages of 14 and 21. Teens who successfully complete the program can get help with job placement.
This summer’s participants had training and work experiences with Rockland BOCES, the Center for Safety and Change, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Multi-purpose Center and in numerous county departments.
“The work you did this summer as you visited different sites in Rockland County will leave an impact long after you go back to school in a couple of weeks,” Day said.
The next TeenWorks session will begin in the spring.
