"I play every day," said Felix Callardo, who once snagged a $5,000 winning ticket. "I try to do something. I've got kids. An ill daughter. I've got grandkids. I'm on Social Security. So I come in every day to try my luck."

Everyone here and throughout the county was buzzing about the mysterious $1 million winner in Stony Point. Several $1 million tickets were sold in New York, officials said, including this one. The winning numbers for the ticket sold here were 4-8-19-27-34. The Powerball number was 10.

All six numbers must match to win the jackpot. The first five can be in any order, however, the sixth must be the Powerball number of 10.

"I'm glad the winner was here, but I don't know who it was," said store manager Imad Abdallah.

He said he sold 1,100 tickets for the drawing.

When people hear about a $1 million dollar winning at a particular location they come down to buy more lottery tickets, even if it isn't a once-in-a-lifetime lottery.

Michelle Devine, a New City woman who grew up in Stony Point, came to the mini mart today to play the lottery. She didn't win last night's Powerball but she does know what it feels like to win big. Recently she won $10,000 playing her husband's birthday numbers: 06/14. She said she will use the money to pay down her mortgage. "At least the money for my mortgage will not come out of my pay check."

Sue Garavo was rooting around in the garbage can.

"Here they are," she said. By accident she'd thrown away two winning tickets from last night, each paying out $4 a piece. Each ticket had the Powerball number.

"I wish there could be lots and lots of winners," she said. "What is someone going to do with a billion dollars?
