RAMAPO, N.Y.-- The absentee policies at East Ramapo schools are being reviewed by the school board after a runaway's mother said the school district neglected to inform her that her 10-year-old did not arrive at school Monday, according to a report by lohud.com.
Kelly Rivera-Pillco was reportedly going to her bus stop in Spring Valley when last seen Monday morning, but she did not board the bus, according to lohud.com.
She evidently got into a taxi for New York City instead, said police, according to lohud.com.
A search ensued when it became evident by her mother that the girl was missing, and she was found in Harlem on Tuesday, said lohud.com.
The matter is being investigated by police, who reportedly said the mother was not informed the girl was absent from school, said lohud.com.
