Michael Perez Rodriguez, 27, of Pennsylvania, turned himself in and was subsequently charged with reckless endangerment and two counts of misdemeanor assault. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges, the Record said.
Perez Rodriguez allegedly entered the mall on Sunday and fired a single shot into the ground near the American Eagle store. The bullet ricocheted off the floor and caused minor injuries to a nearby mother and son, Wallkill officials said.
Perez Rodriguez is a licensed gun owner who has his carry permit. After turning himself in, he also surrendered all of the weapons listed on his permits, the Record reported.
Perez Rodriguez will appear in Wallkill court again on Monday.
