ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. - Police continue their efforts to curtail trespassing at the Town of Ramapo Quarry in Suffern.

Ramapo police officers arrested seven New Jersey residents on Sunday after checking the quarry property and finding several people who had unlawfully entered the property, despite signage and warnings from police that the location in prohibited.

The seven people arrested were all between 17 and 23 years old. They were all charged with trespassing and released after posting $50 bail. They are due back in Suffern Justice Court later this year.

This marks the fourth round of arrests by the Ramapo Police Department for trespassers in the quarry in the last few weeks.

“(The) Ramapo (Police Department) is serious about strictly enforcing the no trespass laws at the Quarry. The area is dangerous, including unseen hazards in the flooded pit area and surrounding grounds,” officials stated previously. “You will be arrested if you are found at the Quarry. Do not enter the area.”
