The library is hoping to put a referendum on the ballot that would allow the library to spend $717,000 for a 12,000-square foot building on West Main Street. The building would cost $1.4 million, with the library paying the rest through grants and financing, according to LoHud.

The library is currently located in a 3,500-foot building on East Main Street. The library submitted a petition signed by 560 residents to get the referendum on the ballot.

If approved, the increase would cost an estimated $90 per household for the year, according to LoHud. The current space cannot accommodate programs the library would like to offer, according to LoHud. The library would sell its current building if it moves into the new one.
