SPRING VALLEY, N.Y. -- When final services are conducted at Temple Beth El and the Torah scrolls solemnly marched to their new home this weekend, it will be the end of an era, but also a new beginning, for the Spring Valley congregation, according to a report by lohud.com .

Beth El, which has used the temple on Viola Road since 1965, recently consolidated with Temple Beth Torah in Upper Nyack after both their congregations declined in number, lohud.com reported.

The combined congregation, known as the Reform Temple of Rockland, decided this year it no longer could afford to maintain both buildings, the lohud.com report said.

The Viola Road building is now up for sale.

After services Sunday, the congregation will walk 12 miles with the Torahs to the temple at 330 North Highland Ave. in Nyack, the lohud.com story said.
