RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A report released Thursday lists East Ramapo among that eight school districts that are the most fiscally stressed in the state, according to lohud.com.
Released by the state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, the report gave the East Ramapo district a score of 66.7 percent, a 20-point decrease from last year's score of 87 percent, and a ranking of No. 6 on the list of eight stressed school districts, said lohud.com.
Officials with the district see the decrease as a good thing and that East Ramapo was just barely in the "significant fiscal stress" category. Four districts had their scores raised significantly over the past year, including Rhinebeck in Dutchess County with a 40 percent jump over the past year, reported lohud.com.
