POMONA, N.Y. -- Hon. Peter Branti Jr., of Pomona, died on Dec. 23. He was 79.
He was born on Aug. 31, 1937 in West Haverstraw to Peter Sr. and Loretta (Natale) Branti. Peter married the love of his life Ann Spissinger on Aug. 25, 1962 in St Peters Church in Haverstraw. He served proudly in the US Navy Reserve.
He was an attorney who had his own practice for 46 years. He also was a Justice for the Town of Haverstraw and Village of West Haverstraw for 20 years.
He was an Assistant District Attorney & Chief Public Defender (1978-1993) for Rockland County. He also served as a Legislator for the County of Rockland for 4 years. He was member of the New York Bar Association.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf but most of all he really enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; children, Peter (Susan), William (Helene), Jennifer; grandchildren, PJ, Jake, Lucy, Peter; and sister, Loretta (Peter) Garifalos.
He is predeceased by two sisters, Theresa Marko and Marie McKeirnan.
Mass is Wednesday Dec. 28 at 10 a.m. in St Peters Church in Haverstraw with interment to follow in St Peters Cemetery.
