Visitation hours will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 Central Highway, Garnerville.
Kralik, 74, who served as sheriff for Rockland County from January 1991 until retiring in December 2011, died of cancer at his home in Sloatsburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:45 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 60 Washington Ave., in Suffern, Barbera said.
"Sheriff Kralik is a legend in Rockland County law enforcement and deserves all the pomp and circumstances when it comes to paying our respects," Barbera said. "We are pulling out all the stops to make this a special event."
That show will include a full-blown police ceremony complete with an honor guard, 21-gun salute, a motorcycle brigade, mounted officers and K-9 units, he said.
He suggests that the public arrives early Saturday to view the huge entourage and other events: "We expect a large crowd."
Barbera said that people unable to get a seat in the church will be able to hear the ceremony at the school next door.
Part of Washington Avenue will be closed off for a short time during the funeral and ceremony.
