Richard K. Geiger, Suffern Resident, All-American College Athlete, 75

Memorial services will be held later this month for Richard K. Geiger, a longtime resident of Suffern, who died Saturday, March 11 after a brief illness. He was 75 years old.

Richard was the son of the late Howard Wilton Geiger and Mabel Houlden Geiger of Monsey. 

He was born in Nyack in 1941. He worked in his family lumber business, Geiger Lumber, for 45 years until he retired.

Richard was a 1960 graduate of Spring Valley High School where he lettered in soccer, basketball and baseball. He was a Junior College All-American soccer goalie for Rockland Community College and was inducted into the R.C.C Hall of Fame in 2009. 

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jean, his son Richard Jr. and wife Cate of Springfield VA, his daughter Kimberly and her husband Steve of Suffern, grandson Kyle, brother Charles and wife Dee of Germantown, and nine nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Howard, wife Melissa, and their son Skip Geiger. 

After his retirement, he enjoyed playing golf and bridge and rooting for the New York Giants. TT

There will be a mass of Christian burial at St. Ann's Church on Saturday, April 22 at 16 Jefferson St. in Nyack at 11 a.m.

A celebration of Richie's life will be held at the Nyack Field Club immediately following for all friends and family at 335 N.Midland Ave. in Nyack. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans , PO Box 14301,Cincinnati, OH 45250.
