Sharon A. Fisher, 70, Of Suffern

SUFFERN, N.Y. -- Sharon A. Fisher, of Suffern, died on Dec. 8. She was 70. 

Fisher was born June 8, 1946 to Walter and Ann Johnson in Suffern. She graduated Suffern High School in 1964, and attended the University of Albany where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology in 1969. She worked in the food service industry which included Lindy’s Restaurant (Suffern), and Johann Oaks Restaurant (Rte. 17 Mahwah). Her love of people and cooking inspired her to open her own business, Deli Deli on Orange Avenue in Suffern. Shortly thereafter, she began her second career as the “Cheese Lady” at the A&P in Mahwah.

Fisher is survived by her husband, Thomas B. Fisher; two children: Derek (Stefanie) and Tara (Jack) McCarthy; grandchildren, Katie, Derek, Brooke, Seanie and Philip; mother, Ann Johnson Mowery; her brother, Jerry Johnson (Sloatsburg).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her honor to United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Lane New City, N.Y. 10956.
