Yolanda Cawley, 57, Of Pomona

POMONA, N.Y. — Yolanda Cawley, 57, of Pomona, died Saturday, Oct. 22.

She was born July 31, 1959, in Chicago, to Felix Mercado and Gladys Fernandez.

She worked as a police officer for the New York City Police Department for 20 years, retiring from the 44th Precinct in 2007. She also was an amateur photographer and made the costumes for St. Gregory Barbarigo School.

She is survived by her her husband, Leonard Cawley; daughter, Megan; and son, Eddie Soto.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Gregory Barbarigo R. C. Church, 29 Cinder Road, Garnerville. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne. Visiting is from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc., 100 Franklin Ave., Pearl River.

Friends may send memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
