RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police made two arrests Monday while responding to 112 calls for aid from across the town.

The first arrest came at an Airmont store when a person was taken into custody on suspicion of shoplifting, according to police.

Later, a Garnerville man was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant by a Rockland County sheriff's deputy, according to police.

The 29-year-old, who faces a DWI charge from a previous arrest, was later released by the Sheriff's Office to the custody of Ramapo police, according to authorities.

Authorities did not release the identities of either of the suspects.

Of the department's 112 calls Monday, 18 were alarm activations, 11 were medical emergencies and seven were car accidents, police said, noting the fender benders were reported on Route 59 in Monsey, on Route 306 in Wesley Hills, on Brook Street in Hillcrest, and four on North Main Street in Hillcrest.
