Car Becomes Engulfed In Flames In Ramapo

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- An intense car fire late Tuesday closed down West Maple Avenue in both directions for about an hour as Monsey firefighters worked to the douse the flames.

When Ramapo police responded to the call around 11 p.m., they found a 1997 Ford Escort fully engulfed in flames, apparently due to mechanical issues, said the Ramapo police.

No injuries were reported as the Monsey Fire Department worked for about an hour to put out the fire and remove the car, police said.
