Video surveillance photos of the 24-year-old man and 22-year-old woman were released by police after they were spotted at a Walmart on the New York/Pennsylvania border early Saturday morning, June 24, hours after the pre-dawn home invasion near the border of Orange and Sullivan counties.
The fugitives, Jarret Cole "Shroom" Heitmann and Makayla Danielle Stilwell, are armed and extremely dangerous, according to police. They are wanted for kidnapping and attempted murder in Tennessee early last week before fleeing to the Hudson Valley.
Heitmann is described as being 6-foot-1, 165 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.
Stilwell is 5-foot-9, 145 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.
The Walmart sighting occurred in Matamoras, Pa., about 30 miles from where the home invasion occurred in the Hudson Valley. Matamoras is located at the point in the Delaware Water Gap where the borders of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania join.
Police in the Town of Crawford in Orange County said Wednesday the Walmart sighting was the "last confirmed sighting" of the two. The duo purchased supplies and outdoor gear at the Walmart, police said, noting they were believed to be heading back to New York after stopping there.
Crawford Police said "there have been some incredible rumors," regarding the whereabouts of the two. "If they were true, they would be quickly reported," they added.
Anyone with information on their whereabouts should call state police at 845-344-5300 or 911.
