ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- Rockland’s bravest give to their communities every day by saving lives; now the folks who they help can return the favor – and enjoy a few yuks and chuckles while they’re doing it.
The Rockland County Fire Chief’s Association will be hosting “Laughter Saves Live,” a comedy fundraiser, on Friday, Feb. 26.
Money raised by the event will benefit the association, which, says one of its directors, Chris Kear.
The funds are used to sponsor scholarships for local students, to put on seminars for firefighters, to donate to various causes, and to defray the operational costs of the association itself, Kear said.
The fundraiser will be held at the Casa Mia Manor House at 577 Route 303, Blauvelt.
The buffet dinner starts at 7 p.m. and the show itself, at 8:30 p.m.
It will star comedian Joseph Anthony, who has appeared on numerous shows, including Catch a Rising Star; and feature comic Angela Cobb, late of the Broadway Comedy Club.
Hosting will be John Larocchia, president of the Laughter Saves Lives Foundation and a retired New York City firefighter, a nonprofit that helps firefighters facing financial difficulties due to unforeseen tragedies or illness.
Tickets are $45 and will include the buffet dinner; draft beer, wine, and soda during the dinner; dessert; and coffee or tea.
Reservations are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome.
After the show, there will be a cash bar available. A 50/50 raffle will also be held.
