Shiendy Mashinsky was hit near Augusta Avenue by Sholom Lenchitz, also of Monsey, while crossing the the street with her sister, said Ramapo Detective Mark Emma.
The accident happened at 8:50 p.m. as the sisters were crossing Route 59 from the north to the south. Mashinsky's sister safety crossed the street before she was struck by the front passenger side of Lenchitz's car, which was traveling eastbound, added Emma.
Mashinsky, who received serious injuries to the head and body, was transported to Westchester Medical Center, where she later died, said Emma.
Lenchitz, along with his 6-year-old son, were not injured. Emma said the department continues their investigation into the accident but are not anticipating any charges.
