RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police arrested a 25-year-old resident of Spring Valley on an assault charge Thursday, authorities said.
The suspect turned himself in for crimes he is accused of committing during a dispute with his ex-girlfriend last week in Hillcrest, according to officials.
The defendant was charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief, police report.
He was arraigned in Town Court and released upon posting bail, with another court date scheduled later this month, according to officials.
Ramapo police officers responded to 13 motor vehicle accidents Thursday.
Sites of the accidents included: Maple Avenue in Monsey; Suzanne Drive in Monsey; North Saddle River Road in Monsey; Acer Court in Monsey; Route 45 in New Hempstead; South Airmont Road in Airmont; Par Road in Montebello; Spook Rock Road in Viola; Galileo Court in Pomona; West Eckerson Road in Hillcrest; Old Nyack Turnpike in Chestnut Ridge; and two on North Main Street in Hillcrest.
Ramapo police rendered assistance in 143 calls for service Thursday, including 22 alarm activations, three fires and 14 medical emergencies.
A total of eight arrests were made, police report.
Charges included unlawful possession of marijuana and four traffic misdemeanors.
Two arrests were made on warrants, according to officials.
