MONSEY, N.Y. -- A fire that destroyed a storage building near a Monsey supermarket is under investigation, Ramapo police say.

The blaze -- reported around 10:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1 -- also spread to a delivery truck which belonged to the Rockland Kosher Supermarket, police said.

The building, which was located near the Shopper's Haven Mall, had contained a forklift, propane tanks, and other materials, police said.

The supermarket, which is located on Orchard Street in the hamlet, was evacuated as a precaution, but no damage there or injuries were reported, police said.

Police were assisted at the scene by the Monsey Fire Department, the Hillcrest Fire Department, Hatzolah Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and Chaverim.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Rockland County Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Ramapo Police Detective Bureau.
