RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police charged a local business manager with violating the town’s alarm law on Thursday, authorities said.

The charge came about after police had responded more than 15 separate times to the business for false alarm activations, according to officials.

The manager, who had been instructed in the past to have the situation corrected, was issued an appearance ticket and directed to appear in court on a later date, police report.

Ramapo police officers handled 12 motor vehicle accidents on Thursday, including five in Airmont, three in Monsey and two apiece in northeast Ramapo and Hillcrest.

Three of the accidents were hit and runs; one accident involved an injury, according to officials.

Ramapo police handled 147 calls Thursday, including eight alarm activations, six medical emergencies and two fires.

A total of four arrests were made.

Charges include a local law violation, drug related offenses and a case of aggravated unlicensed operation in which a driver had 13 suspensions throughout Rockland and Orange Counties, police report.
