Ramapo Police Make Arrests In Domestic Incident, Marijuana Possession Case

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police made three arrests in a pair of cases on Monday.

The first case involved two arrests stemming from an investigation of a domestic dispute that occurred at a local hotel on Sunday, police report.

Charges included assault in the third degree, harassment, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, according to officials.

In the second case, a Ramapo police officer stopped a car for a vehicle and traffic violation and noticed the smell of burnt marijuana inside the car, police report.

The incident resulted in an arrest for unlawful possession of marijuana, according to officials.

Ramapo police officers handled six motor vehicle accidents on Monday.

Sites of the accidents include: Route 59 in Airmont; Route 59 in Monsey; East Eckerson Road in Hillcrest; Rita Avenue in Kaser; Firemen’s Memorial Drive in northeast Ramapo; and North Main Street in New Square.

Two of the accidents involved injuries; one was a hit and run, according to officials.

Ramapo police handled a total of 95 calls on Monday, including 16 alarm activations and six medical emergencies.
