Rockland Mourns One Of Its Own, Fdny Chief Fahy

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- As word spread of the death of NYFD Battalion Chief Michael Fahy, a North Rockland native and married father of three, in a Bronx explosion, local police and fire departments across the area responded quickly to offer their condolences on social media.

The Rockland County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook: 

"Our deepest condolences to the FDNY and the family of Battalion Chief Michael Fahy on his passing in the line of duty. Chief Fahy was a native of Rockland and a North Rockland High School graduate."

The Thiells Fire Department said: "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the FDNY Chief who was killed in the line of duty."

The Stony Point Fire Department posted on Facebook: "Our deepest condolences to the FDNY and his family"

The New City Fire Department said: "We mourn the loss of FDNY Battalion Chief Michael Fahy, killed earlier this morning while operating at a gas leak that resulted in an explosion and subsequent building collapse. May he Rest In Peace."

The Clarkstown Police Department wrote: "The Clarkstown Police Department sends our condolences to the family and the men and women of the FDNY on the loss of Chief Michael Fahy. May he rest in peace."

The Orangetown Police Department offered the following words: "It is with deep regret that FDNY announces the line of duty death of FDNY Battalion Chief Michael J. Fahy, Battalion 19. Chief Fahy made the Supreme Sacrifice while operating today at BOX 3732 in the Bronx. He was a 17-year veteran of the FDNY. Chief Fahy served as a Firefighter beginning in 1999, was promoted to Lieutenant in 2004, to Captain in 2007 and to Battalion Chief in 2012."

The Town of Ramapo Police Department added: "The members of the Ramapo Police Department offer our thoughts and prayers to the FDNY and the family of Battalion Chief Michael J. Fahy. Chief Fahy - thank you for your service and sacrifice. Rest in peace."

The Suffern Fire Department wrote: "Thoughts and prayers are with the FDNY, and the family of Chief Michael Fahy, who passed away this morning in a line of duty death. Battalion Chief Fahy passed away during a house explosion earlier this morning in the Bronx."

The Tallman Volunteer Fire Department offered: "The officers and members of the Tallman fire department send their deepest condolences to the FDNY on the tragic loss of BC Michael Fahy early this morning.

Rockland County Firefighters said: "Signal 5-5-5-5 has been transmitted, message is as follows: The FDNY regrets to announce the death of Battalion Chief Michael J Fahy, Bn-19 which occurred at Bronx 2nd Alarm Box 3732 transmitted at 0622hrs, September 27, 2016."
