Shots Fired From Semi-Automatic Weapon In New Hempstead

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Several reports of gunfire made late Saturday night in New Hempstead are under investigation, Ramapo Police said on Sunday.

The reports of gunshots in the area of Hempstead and Brick Church Roads in New Hempstead came in around 10 p.m.

Officers checked the area and located several spent shell casings apparently fired from a semi-automatic weapon, police said. Callers also reported hearing a car speed away just after the gunshots, according to police..

"At this time it does not appear that there were any injuries or property damage due to this incident," Ramapo Police said.

RPD detectives responded to the scene, along with the Sheriff’s BCI Unit.

The investigation is ongoing.
