SPRING VALLEY, N.Y. -- Following a rash of three shootings throughout Spring Valley over the past two weeks, police have charged a local man with criminal possession of a weapon.

According to Spring Valley Police Det. Robert Bookstein only property was damaged during the shootings. No one was injured.

Following the shootings, officers received information from the public about a vehicle seen in the area of one of the shootings.

That information was investigated and led to the development of suspects. During a traffic stop Thursday,, Rojay McDonald, 20, of Spring Valley, was taken into custody after police found a .38 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver with 19 rounds of ammunition, as well as a pair of metal knuckles, Bookstein said.

The investigation will determine through ballistic testing if the gun recovered is a match, as well as the origin of the handgun. The Rockland County Sheriffs Department Bureau of Criminal Identification is assisting in this investigation.

"At this point the suspect has only been charged with possession of the weapons," Bookstein said.

McDonald was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $75,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 2.

The Spring Valley Police Department requests that anyone with information on any shootings to please call the department at 845-356-7400. All calls will be kept confidential.
