SUFFERN, N.Y. -- Several bulletproof vests have been donated to Suffern police, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.
The vests are designed to stop rounds from high-powered rifles, police said.
The money to buy the vests was raised by the Police Chiefs Foundation of Rockland County through its annual barbecue and golf outing, Suffern police said.
Other county departments also received vests, police said.
The Suffern department's post thanked the foundation for its donations.
