The fire, reported shortly before 4:30 p.m., was in a dumpster that was attached to the furniture warehouse, according to fire officials.

Tallman Firefighters immediately took to freeing the "compactor-type dumpster," which was said to be loaded with cardboard, styrofoam and other flammable materials.

According to officials, the firefighters used saws and other specialized equipment to free the dumpster, preventing the fire from spreading to the building.

Volunteers from the Suffern Fire Department arrived to backup the firefighters from Tallman, according to officials, who said the backup was needed to cope with high temperatures above 85 degrees.

According to officials, firefighters remained on the scene for about two hours. No injuries were reported.
