Taxi Crashes Into Tree After Driver Is Shot In Spring Valley

A taxi cab driver left the roadway and struck a tree after being shot Monday afternoon in Hillcrest, Ramapo Police said.

Police responded to a report of an auto accident on West Eckerson Road. Upon arrival, officers found that the driver of a taxi cab had been shot and that the taxi, which had been traveling eastbound. then left the roadway and struck a tree, according to police.

The driver of the taxi, a 23-year-old male (whose name is being withheld), was treated at the scene by Spring Hill Ambulance Corp. and then transported to Nyack Hospital. He was subsequently transferred to Westchester Medical Center.

Ramapo Police were assisted at the scene by Spring Valley Police, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department and the New York State Police.
