ROCKLAND COUNTY< N.Y. -- Two men who were charged with DWI on Wednesday by Ramapo police in separate stops had open bottles of vodka in their vehicles, and one had a blood-alcohol level more than four times the legal limit.

The first arrest occurred around 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the Walmart after an officer noticed the man was drinking when he drove past his vehicle, police said.

The officer pulled over the 48-year-old Airmont resident as he began driving out of the parking lot. When officers approached the car they found an open bottle of vodka and the man appeared to be intoxicated, police said.

The man was later tested and his blood-alcohol level registered at 0.18 percent, more than four times the legal limit, police added.

He was charged with DWI and aggravated DWI and released. He is due back in court in June.

The second man was arrested around 9 p.m. after a code enforcement officer called Ramapo police to report that a 67-year-old man from Huntington was standing outside of his vehicle and appeared to be disoriented and in need of medical attention, police reported.

When officers responded they found another open container of vodka on the man's front passenger seat and that he was drunk and had operated the vehicle while intoxicated, police said.

He was charged with DWI and released. He is scheduled to appear in court in June.
