Port Authority police followed a New York City-bound 2007 Honda sedan after it crossed over the lane markers several times around 3:40 a.m. Sunday, the authority's Joseph Pentangelo said.
They pulled the car over after it merged onto the Palisades Interstate Parkway and found alcohol on the breath of the driver, identified as 30-year-old Aaron White, Pentangelo said.
"He was also unsteady on his feet, swaying as he spoke to the officer," he said.
Arrested after failing a field sobriety test, White registered a .13% alcohol level on a breath test and was charged with DWI, careless driving and failing to maintain a lane before being released to a responsible adult, Pentangelo said.
A half-hour later, police stopped a Hackensack man who Pentangelo said was also intoxicated.
