Officers from the Ramapo Police Department were dispatched to Route 17 at the intersection of the New York State Thruway exit ramp 15A, where there were reports of a multi-vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, police said that the responding officer suspected that one of the drivers - a 41-year-old woman from Tuxedo Park in Orange County - was intoxicated. She subsequently failed multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was placed under arrest under suspicion of driving under the influence.

The driver - whose name was not disclosed - was processed at the Ramapo Police Department and submitted to a breathalyzer, which determined that she was nearly three times over the legal limit of .08 percent.

Police proceeded to charge the woman with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content greater than .08 percent. She was released on her own recognizance and is due back in Ramapo Court in November to answer the charges.
