RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A woman driving a stolen vehicle was nabbed by a Ramapo police officer when she was stopped on Route 17 in the Village of Sloatsburg on Wednesday for a traffic violation.
During the stop, the officer performed a computer check on the car, which showed it had been reported stolen. The unidentified driver, was charged with possession of stolen property and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
She was arraigned and released after posting bail.
In addition, the department also investigated seven motor vehicle accidents with property damage in the following areas: Monsey, four accidents; Hillcrest, one; Airmont, one, and Montebello, one.
Overall, the department received 115 calls for service including:
- Nine medical emergencies
- 14 alarm activations
- Seven fire calls
- Five arrests including charges for menacing, criminal possession of stolen property, aggravated harassment and two arrest warrants.
