Woman Entered Downstate Correctional Facility With Drugs, Police Say

FISHKILL, N.Y. -- A 33-year-old is facing charges after state police say she was found to be in possession of marijuana after entering the Downstate Correctional Facility in Fishkill to visit an inmate on Saturday.

The state police's Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Wappinger barracks charged Julie L. DeWitt, age 33, of Middletown with promoting prison contraband in the second degree and unlawful possession of marijuana.

The New York State Police were assisted by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision K9 Unit.

DeWitt was issued an appearance ticket to return to the Town of Fishkill Court on Jan. 24..
