ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Republican incumbent Ed Day is holding a narrow lead as he looks to earn a second term as Rockland County Executive.
Day leads Maureen Porette, a Democrat and conservative Thomas Sullivan, 51 percent to 47 percent to 2 percent, with 73 percent reporting, according to unofficial returns from the Rockland County Board of Elections.
Day had touted his role in reducing Rockland's budget, while Porette has criticized him for allowing Rockland's deficit to climb when Day served on the county Board of Legislators.
