Lowey Unopposed, Wins 14th Term In Congress After Stumping With Clintons

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- U.S. Rep. Nita Lowey, a Democrat from Harrison, won her 14th term in Congress, running unopposed in Tuesday's election.

Lowey's win assures her a top leadership post in the House where she has served as ranking member of the House Appropriations Committee in recent years.

Earlier Tuesday, the senior member of Congress met Hillary and Bill Clinton at a Chappaqua elementary school to witness what Lowey predicted would be historic votes by the former First Lady and prospective "first man."

“As the representative of Rockland and Westchester, a woman, and the first female Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee, I was thrilled to vote for the first female, major party nominee for President, Hillary Clinton," Lowey said Tuesday afternoon.

"Hillary is an accomplished and inspiring leader, with a proven track record of achieving real results for hardworking Americans,'' Lowey said.
