Rockland County Election Results Begin Rolling In

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- With Rockland County voters choosing to elect County Executive Ed Day for a second term, other unofficial results are in with nearly 95 percent of votes counted.

In Clarkstown,  Republican Supervisor George Hoehmann took an early lead over Democratic challenger Michael Sullivan and maintained it, garnering 13,483 of 24,159 votes to Sullivan's 10,651.

In Ward 1, Republican incumbent Frank Borelli topped Democrat Ricky Sanchez with 4,243 votes against 2,453.

In Ward 2, Democrat incumbent Daniel Caprara faces Republican challenger Peter Bradley for town council with the two nearly splitting 6,607 votes, with Caprara narrowly edging Bradley 3,314-3,289.

In Ward 4, Democratic challenger Patrick Carroll topped incumbent John Noto 2,626-2,288.

In Orangetown, Democrat Thom Kleiner was defeated by Day's son, Chris Day, by a margin of 6,685 votes to 5,618 with more than 12,000 votes cast for Town Supervisor.

In Sloatsburg, voters have voted to end age limits on earning volunteer firefighter pension credits, garnering 63 percent of the vote in Rockland. The age to start claiming firefighter pension has also been reduced from 65 to 60 years old.

Alan Simon is likely to be voted as the new mayor of Spring Valley, earning 1,759 (67 percent) of the vote with 72 percent of districts reporting. He wins over challengers Emilia White, Allan Thompson and Claude Jean Louis.
