Spring Valley Mayor’s Impeachment Trial Underway

SPRING VALLEY, N.Y. -- The trail to remove Spring Valley Mayor Demeza Delhomme from office for alleged spending violations is underway in White Plains, according to News12.

The call for the mayor's removal began two years ago when residents started a petition calling for his impeachment, said News12.

The lawyer for the residents said during opening statements that Delhomme had improperly purchased an SUV for the village and took it on a vacation to North Carolina, using the village's gas credit card to pay for the trip, among other charges, added News12.

Spring Valley trustee Villair Fonvil testified Delhomme was not authorized to purchase the SUV, said News12.

Delhomme's lawyer claimed the charges are a political move to get rid of the mayor, reported News12.

The trial is expected to last through until Friday.
