The students were awarded for various reasons, including caring, and citizenship. Principal Angela Aguilar congratulated both parents and students for their excellence in their individual achievements but also for helping to contribute to a more positive school environment for all Cherry Lane students.
Assemblywoman Ellen C. Jaffe also attended the event and said she is very glad the students are being rewarded for more than their academic achievements.
Jaffe said she believes that rewarding students from a young age for outstanding citizenship efforts helps create an even more positive outlook and environment for them to strive to achieve more for their schools and communities.
Cherry Lane Parent Teacher Association members Melissa Hess-Gilardi, Jennifer Marchesani and James McEvoy were in charge of the event.
