Cancer Battle Sidelines North Rockland High School Football Coach

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Tom Lynch, the coach of the North Rockland Red Raiders football team, is expected to miss the season after being diagnosed with kidney cancer.

Lynch was diagnosed in August before practice began and will have an organ removed on Sept. 18 according to lohud.. He has coached the team since 2011.

In July, Lynch had been given a clean bill of health following a physical and blood work, according to LoHud.

Assistant coach Greg Grasso, who also serves as North Rockland's varsity boys lacrosse coach, will be taking over as head football coach on an interim basis this year.
