Darien's Holly Pond School Trots Out Pony Rides, Fun For Fundraiser DARIEN, Conn. — Magic, crafts and unique food are returning for the 20th annual Darien Family Fun Day.This year's event is hosted by the Holly Pond School from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, at the Darien YMCA. State Trooper Honored With Lifesaving Award For Bridgeport Rescue BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — State trooper Gregory Sawicki earned the Medal for Lifesaving after rescuing a suicidal man on a Bridgeport highway.On Oct. 8, 2015, Sawicki responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a man lying in the median of the northbound Interstate 95 near the exit 27 off ramp, officials said. Troopers Earn Lifesaving Award For Rescuing Driver After Bridgeport Crash BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Connecticut State Troopers Ryan Burke and Willis Gonzalez were honored with the Medal for Lifesaving for their work to keep a man alive in the immediate aftermath of a car crash in Bridgeport.Burke was working a highway construction project on Aug. 25, 2015, when construction workers informed him of a crash near Exit 5 of Routes 8/25 northbound in Bridgeport.
