LI Driver, 26, Found Dead Hours After Van Slammed Into Tree And Flipped: Police
A Long Island driver was killed in a one-car crash early Tuesday, Sept. 8, police said.
Matthew Schneider, 26, of Selden, was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Express eastbound on Express Drive South near Maple Avenue in Holbrook around 3:10 a.m., the Suffolk County Police Department said.
Schneider’s vehicle left the road, struck a tree, and overturned, investigators said. However, the wreck wasn’t reported until a passing motorist called 911 around 5:30 a.m., police said.

LI Truck Mechanic Killed In Workplace Accident Identified By Police (Updated)
A Long Island trucking worker was identified Thursday, Sept. 10 after being killed in a workplace accident Monday, Sept. 7, authorities said.
Eliseo Colatosti, 66, of Hicksville, was identified as the diseased man, the Nassau County Police Department said in an update.
Colatosti was working on a New York City garbage truck at Gabrielli Truck Sales and Service in Hicksville, according to News 12 Long Island.
The truck backed over Colatosti and killed him just before 3 p.m. Monday, Nassau County police said Tuesday, Sept. 8.

5-Year-Old Girl, 8-Year-Old Boy Among Three Injured In LI Man’s Violent Outburst: Police
A Long Island man assaulted a woman, pushed an 8-year-old boy, and injured a 5-year-old girl in the same incident, police said.
Max Beltre, 27, of East Hampton, was charged with third-degree assault and two counts of child endangerment following his arrest around 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, the East Hampton Police Department said.
At an East Hampton home, Beltre threw a cellphone charger that struck the 5-year-old girl in the face, police said. Beltre then attacked the girl’s mother, first pushing her and then repeatedly slamming a door on her right hand, investigators said.
