A Florida man accused of damaging vehicles at an Oakland apartment complex fled police, crashed into a utility pole, disappeared overnight, then resurfaced behind the wheel of a stolen pickup Thursday, Aug. 6, authorities said.
Oakland police responded to an apartment complex on West Oakland Avenue around 11:18 p.m., on a report of a man damaging multiple vehicles in the parking lot, Acting Capt. Michael Griffin said.

A passenger's story began to unravel during a Route 4 traffic stop in Paramus, ultimately leading police to a fugitive wanted for attempted murder for more than two decades, authorities said.
Yancy Haywood, 52, of Paterson, was arrested after Officer Nicholas Perna stopped a 2009 gray Kia on Route 4 west at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti said.

Two Bronx men are accused of using stolen identities to open fraudulent Nordstrom credit accounts and carry out a multistate retail fraud scheme before they were arrested at Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus, police said.
