Ramapo police officers arrested six Rockland County residents on Thursday after checking the quarry property and finding several people who had unlawfully entered the property, despite signage and warnings from police that the location in prohibited.

According to police, one of the trespassers was also charged with criminal trespassing and resisting arrest. He is due back in the Village of Suffern Court next month for arraignment on the charges.

This marks the third round of arrests by the Ramapo Police Department for trespassers in the quarry.

“(The) Ramapo (Police Department) is serious about strictly enforcing the no trespass laws at the Quarry. The area is dangerous, including unseen hazards in the flooded pit area and surrounding grounds,” officials stated. “You will be arrested if you are found at the Quarry. Do not enter the area.”
