ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- The man charged with the death of a 3-month-old infant that occurred during a road rage incident in June pleaded not guilty Tuesday to manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide, according to Rockland County Assistant District Attorney Richard Moran.
Albert Gomez, 62, is charged with one count of felony manslaughter, one count of felony criminally negligent homicide, two counts of felony assault, and a misdemeanor count of assault.
Gomez, slammed into a family of four, including a 38-year old mother and her three children — two daughters ages 13 and 9 and the 3-month-old son, around 2:45 p.m. Monday, June 26, as they walked along the westbound shoulder of Route 59 during a road rage incident with a taxi driver, authorities said.
The infant, Mayer Braun, succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, July 5. His mother and older sisters also suffered serious but non‐life‐threatening injuries and are recovering.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 8, Moran said.
