SUFFERN, N.Y. -- The village clerk in Suffern since 1963 is 94-year-old Virginia Menschner, who will continue to serve the village, but not likely in the same way, according to lohud.com.
The change is part of a "budget-balancing" review of government operations by new Mayor Edward Markunas, lohud.com says.
Suffern's budget deficit was a main campaign issue with a reported budget hole of around $2.5 million, according to lohud.com.
The report says it's uncertain what Menschner's new position will be and who will head up the clerk's office.
