Three Rockland Residents Will Split $22 Million After Lottery Win

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Three lucky Rockland County residents will receive a combined $22.3 million in Lotto winnings during a special event complete with oversized checks on Friday.

The winners, a father, and daughter from Suffern, who picked the right numbers for the Nov. 5, 2016, game, will split $15.8 million, said Lee park, spokesman for the New York Gaming Commission.

The third winner was a New City man who won $6.5 million in the Dec. 31, 2016 Lotto game, Park added.

The winners' identities will be revealed during the ceremony hosted by Yolanda Vega at the New York Lottery Customer Service Center in Fishkill at 11 a.m. 

The only downside to the celebration is the winners will have to hand back 25 percent in federal taxes and 8.82 percent in state taxes, according to the New York State Lottery website.
