A Long Island teenager was seriously injured in a car crash, and now his loved ones are asking the community for help.
Jack Nehring, a freshman at Amityville High School, was riding a bike near the intersection of Merrick Road and Route 110 when he collided with a car on Monday, Aug. 24, according to an online fundraiser and community comments on the wreck.

Drunk Boater Rescued From Sinking Ship Off Suffolk Coast, Then Arrested: Police
A drunk boater off the coast of Long Island crashed his vessel, leading to a rescue and his ensuing arrest, police said.
Christopher Carlson, 48, of Patchogue, was piloting his 2004 30-foot Grady-White boat in the Great South Bay near Sayville around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
Carlson struck an object in the water and called 911 to report his boat was sinking, authorities said. SCPD’s Marine Bureau arrived on scene and removed Carlson from the boat, cops said. No one else was on board.

Abused Dog Found With Open Wounds, Fly Infestation In Suffolk County: Authorities
A Long Island man was arrested after his dog was found infested with flies and suffering from open wounds, authorities said.
Cecilio Matthews, 50, of Bellport, was charged with several counts of animal cruelty under state and county laws, the Suffolk County SPCA said Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Investigators determined earlier in the month that Matthews had failed to care for his 10-year-old mutt, Seven, leaving the dog neglected in a yard, according to the SPCA.
